How do I Write a Groom Wedding Speech

The groom’s speech is a big part of the wedding reception. The wedding reception is the time to celebrate the joining of man and wife and the joining of two families.

The tradition etiquette for wedding speeches is firstly for the brides father to propose a toast to the bride and groom. He then continues with an insight into his daughter.

The groom wedding speech is now made and should follow the following protocol: The groom will usually use the phrase ‘My wife and I’ for the first time – normally to great applause. The groom wedding speech should then contain reference to all of those involved in the organisation of the wedding. Now the groom may present the brides mother with a bouquet of flowers and goes on to thank his attendants and present them with his gifts. The groom will then speak about his wife and finally propose a toast to the bridesmaids.

To ensure that everything goes well on the day, it is a good idea to be come familiar with the brides father’s speech as you will be responding to this speech.

The key to the whole thing is to be prepared. Know what you are going to say, write it down and practice it. Be prepared to be nervous and take your time. Clearly it is also a good idea not to drink to much alcohol before you give your speech. You can write the whole speech down word for word or you can use postcard size prompt cards with headings to remind you of what you are going to say. Your speech does not need to be to long, just remember to get things in the right order as above.

If this all sounds like a massive task, there’s actually no need for undue fuss or worry – because somebody’s written a book which caters to the specific speech-making needs of the groom on his big day.

The book’s called Groom Speeches – Say the Right Words at the Right Time, and is specifically designed, with the help of professional speech-writers, to answer all the questions that the groom could ever have about speech-writing and delivery.

The book is written by Dan Stevens and when you purchase the book you get a free, individual email consultation with the man himself. So if you have any niggling issues that you want to iron out, all you have to do is write him an email – and get a complete, personalised reply from someone truly in the know!
